POGO FILMS: 3D CHALLENGE
Pogo Films is challenging itself to add an extra dimension to its 2D post-production boutique by producing and posting a 3D Stereoscopic BELLY DANCING tutorial entitled 'Dancing Dimensions' for release at Broadcast Video Expo, February 16-18th.
This is entirely in line with Pogo Films' history of innovation, early adoption of new technologies and its plans to develop a Production capability aimed squarely at 3D.
This eye-catching production was conceived after several 3D experiments over the last six months and is to be made possible by working very closely with: CW[Pro] who are the professional team within the Computer Warehouse group, the 'all things 3D' specialists at Inition and 3D post technology pioneers, Quantel.
CW[Pro] specialise in production workflows and will be providing the Apple Final Cut Pro support for the Red 3D workflow. CW[Pro] are also a reseller for the Red Rocket which will be used for ingest. Filmscape Media, a camera hire company based at Pinewood Studios have very kindly offered to supply the two RED cameras required for shoot.
Inition is providing stereoscopic expertise for the shoot. Also utilising their Element Technica Quasar rig and visualisation through the JVC 46 inch 3D monitor.
Quantel will provide daily support for implementation of its new suite of 3D stereoscopic tools for Pogo Films' Pablo system.
The edit will be offlined and visualised for stereoscopic comfort at Pogo Films with Apple Final Cut Pro and then graded and delivered using the Quantel Pablo.
Broadcast Video Expo is an excellent opportunity to show a proven work-flow for broadcast 3D and to illustrate that with the right team and talent, a successful and vibrant production is achievable. Pogo Films is keen to be an early adopter and 'prove the pudding' not just send out releases about 'what it will be doing'.
"There is no getting away from it, stereoscopic 3D TV is coming this year and as always, Pogo want to lead the way and develop the skills," said Olivier Lauchenauer, Managing Director, Pogo Films.
"Small often proves to be beautiful in this business, and we pack a powerful punch when it comes to showing the industry new ways of working and more importantly, making magic happen for forward-looking Producers."
"Dancing Dimensions is our way to show not only our post abilities in 3D stereoscopic television and film but also signposts our intention to develop our 3D production capabilities," said Philip Richardson, Managing Director, Pogo Films. "We are going to move Pogo towards a micro-studio, developing, producing and posting 3D content; short form initially, then UK based, feature and documentary work."
"Stereoscopic 3D will provide a great opportunity for forward-looking post houses such as Pogo Films to develop their operations into an exciting and profitable new area of business," said Quantel Director of Sales, Richard Craig-McFeely. "We are delighted to be supporting Pogo in this venture and look forward to helping them make the maximum impact with this eye-catching initiative."
